Sandtastik® Therapy Play Sand provides tactile and sensory stimulation necessary for the development of a child's imagination, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills such as shoulder stability, forearm rotation, wrist control, and hand strength. Sand play also encourages creativity, visualization and social interaction.
All sand products are 100% natural, pure, clean sand. All sand items are free of the following ingredients:

● Any forms of asbestos
● Any form of wheat or gluten
● Any form of nuts; peanuts, tree nuts, etc.
The short and sweet answer to this is the size of the sand grains. Sparkling White Play Sand is fine, soft, and moldable while Therapy Play Sand is a more coarse version with all finer grains sifted out (no dust).

Both are made from feldspar rock, only sifted differently.
All Sandtastik® sand products are produced from the feldspar rock and crushed to our specifications. You may notice tiny black flecks in the sand which cannot be removed or colored. They are part of the rock formation and are non-organic. These dark grains are veins that run through the rock as a natural feature.
Sandtastik has had the sand tested by a CPSC-accredited lab and results show that there are no organic materials or insects in the sand.
Sandtastik sand has a fine grain size that does not allow it to easily sink to the bottom of a tank. There is no guarantee as to how long the color will last in underwater environments, and the sand has not been tested to be safe for aquatic wildlife throughout a sustained period.
